Punching thin plastics and metal foils requires a level of precision far beyond standard metal stamping. While typical punch and die clearance ranges from .001" to .005", membrane punching demands tolerances as tight as .0001".
To put that in perspective, our clearance is often 20 times thinner than a human hair. This prevents the "tearing" or "folding" of material that occurs with standard tooling.
